One fun experience I had was working with the Adirondack Phantoms professional hockey team over a winter break from school. The Phantoms, now based in Allentown, PA, are the AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers. The team was originally based in Philadelphia, PA from 1996 through 2009 before moving to Glens Falls, NY from 2009 and 2014.

During my experience, I assisted with various media relations and marketing duties during home games such as social media, post-game interviews, and press box operations. It was an interesting time to be with the team because of the 2012-13 NHL lockout. Due to the lockout, many NHL-caliber players were playing at the AHL level. The media was covering the team more heavily and Flyers coaches/personnel were regularly in attendance.

One of the projects I assisted with was the creation/revision of game packs which were used by the media in particular. These packs contain the team roster, player/coach biographies and statistics, game results, records, transactions, and more. Since these documents are full of interesting information, I thought it would be nice to share an example of one (hence, this blog post). Here's the game pack from January 18, 2013:

Overall, it was a great experience helping out the Phantoms and I'm thankful I was given the opportunity to contribute. Please enjoy reading through the game pack and make sure to check out the Phantoms website at to learn more about the team today.

Had a great time working with @PhantomsHockey tonight. #ahl #hockey
